This Thursdays G & Tippers Theme & Fridays Show…

Hey there people!

Just a quick note to tell you about this weeks G and Tippers Show.

This week, we’re talking about make ups, and break ups. We want your magical stories of how you met the love of your life. Did your eyes meet across a crowded room? Did you nosh him off in a pub toilet and decide it tasted ‘alright’?

We want your tales of romance.

But, as in life, there is no good without evil. Therefore, we want your best break up stories as well.

Did you walk in to find him shagging his receptionist? Or did you find pictures of dog porn on his lap top?

Let us know! Tweet us at www.twitter.com/gandtippers or email us at gandtippers@vectisradio.com.

The show goes out on Thursday night on www.vectisradio.com. 7pm til 10pm UK time.

Tune in!

Also, me and Tim are playing a show on Friday night at LA Bowl in Ryde, Isle of Wight. We’re on from 9 til 11 and entry is free. Plus, the beer is cheap.

What more do you need? xxx

Damien Nettles Awareness Gig.

Hello everyone,

On Sunday there is an awareness show to coincide with the turning of 15 years since the disappearance of Damien Nettles.

Damien disappeared from Cowes, Isle of Wight in November 1996. To read about Damien and the ongoing search for him, click onto www.damiennettles.com.

The show is taking place at The Princess Royal in Newport, Isle of Wight, this Sunday. Me and Tim will be playing an acoustic set at around 4pm.

Entry is completely free. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

Peace. x

A Brand New Battle.

OiOi.

Spent the day in the studio and am now 7 tracks into my album. I know it’s an odd day here and an odd day there. But I’m juggling work, radio show and football. And of course, it’s expensive!

We recorded ‘A Brand New Battle’ today. I reckon it’s earmarked as a single so it was nice to get it down and hear it sounding good. There is nothing worse than pinning your hopes on a song and then when you add the other instruments, it dies a slow, painful death.

I have a couple of shows this weekend. Check out the gigs page.

They’re only local but as soon as the album is done, I’m off on the road again. I hope Germany kept my bar stool warm.

Help?!

Hello my lovelies!

This might sound like a bizarre request, but does anyone that doesn’t drink actually enjoy Real Ale Festivals? Because if you do, and you live on the Isle of Wight, you could be the man/woman to save the day!

Me and Tim are playing at Rookley Real Ale Festival on Friday Night. Now there is one problem. As it’s a small event, with a tiny budget, we’re getting paid in beer.

Now in the 1960’s it wouldn’t have been a problem. We just get smashed and then drive home.

But…

Drink driving is for mugs.

If anyone fancies giving me and young Timothy a lift, we’ll forever be in your debt!

We’ll pay petrol, get you free entrance to the Festival and chuck you a couple of copies of the album.

Email me at garethicke@hotmail.com.

Six tracks into the album…

Hello people,

I’ve just left the studio having completed track number six of my second album. I am finally starting to get the buzz about you guys all hearing it. It certainly won’t be what you expect. It is very different.

Today I finished a track called ‘Jenny’. That means I’m half way through. It’s all downhill from here…in theory!

You know when you feel that one person is ‘the one’? Like no matter what happens or where you are, there is that one person that will forever be inside you heart and head? Every Forest Gump needs his Jenny. Hence the name.

I have a couple of shows this weekend. Check out the shows page!

Back in the studio.

Oi!

I’m back in the studio tomorrow. Can’t wait to get in and start work on track 4 of my album. We’re three tracks down and the sound is already starting to come out. It’s obviously making it easier when we know what direction we’re going in. It’s different, I’ll let on that much.

The lads at Studio 5a have been great. Claydon worked with me on ‘It Gets Worse At Night’ so knows what I’m all about. And Guy has been awesome and brought forward some wicked ideas and a new approach.

There are some parts of this record that will remind you of early 90s grunge, parts that sound very poppy and other bits that resemble the XX. It’s definitely going to be different. I sincerely hope you’ll like it.

As soon as I’m done with the record, I’ll be straight back on the road across the UK and Europe. I’ll keep you up to date on all progress and hopefully get a few rough clips of the tunes on here as we go.

Stay lucky. x

Swan Fest this Saturday…

Hey everyone,

I’m playing a FREE family festival this Saturday (20th) in Oxfordshire. When I say free family, I mean it’s free entry and child friendly. I don’t mean you can turn up and leave with a wife and two kids for free. That simply wouldn’t work.

The Festival is called Swan Fest and is at The Swan in Sutton Courtenay, near Abingdon, Oxon.

I’m on stage fro 2:15 until 3pm. Should be a craic with loads of good bands playing. And it’s all free. That helps.

If you’re about, come on down.

I’ll be playing loads of new material as I’m back in the studio on Tuesday. Exciting!

Holiday.

Hey all,

This will be my last post for a wee bit as I’m off on holiday tomorrow. I think it’s my first holiday for about 14 years.

I have travelled a lot with football and music, but always been busy doing those things. This time I am going to Greece to be a sloth. I’m even going to be so lazy (hungover) that I will avoid the rioting.

But as soon as I return, I’m straight back into the firing line. I’m back into the studio to record another tune for the album. Plus I’m playing a couple of festivals, not to mention SWIMMING THE SOLENT.

No rest for the wicked people!

I hope you all have a lovely few days without my annoying input.

Stay lucky. x

100 lengths and counting…

Hello people,

Just got back from the pool. Smashed out 100 lengths (2900 metres) this afternoon. Training for the swim is well and truly under way.  I’m putting everything into this. I really don’t fancy walking down Ryde High Street with my pecker out. That disappointment is for my girlfriend and my girlfriend only.

Check out www.gandtippers.com/swim

Am working on new material this week. I know the album is already written but one can never have too many songs. My Mrs is miles and miles away so it’s sounding melancholic. You wouldn’t expect anything less from me I’m sure.

I best get back to it before football training. I have fitness issues it seems. x
