I was bored…

Hello everyone,

I was bored this evening, so I decided to record a new tune on my phone.

It’s very rough. But here you are…

Enjoy. x

Studio Sunday…

Hello.

I’m off to Manchester on Sunday to record a couple of live, acoustic B sides for the ‘What’s love without meaning?‘ single.

I know I’m going to record a chilled out version of ‘Remember who you are‘, but I’m unsure what other track to record.

I have a few new tunes that would suit acoustic really nicely. I may just have to flip a coin.

The single is available on the 17th December.

The music video for the track will be up in the next few days. I hope you’ll like.

I’ve been working on new tracks for my third album recently. Obviously I’m not even thinking about recording it, as the second album has just come out, and next year is earmarked to tour the album Worldwide.

My label have had contact from across Europe, Australia and Canada about tours next year, so that’s very exciting. It only seems like yesterday that I was on the phone, begging for support slots. I must admit, I don’t miss doing that!

The new tracks I’ve been working on are very mellow. In fact, they’d probably give Nick Drake a run for his money, on the depressing scale! But fear not, I tend to write a bunch of tunes that reflect my mood, so when I’m happy, I’ll write another load, and make a nicely balanced album.

What is funny for me, is ‘A Brand New Battle‘ was recorded, in my mind, as my final album. I was then going to go away and do something else. I even thought about politics. Christ knows Westminster needs someone with some morality among it’s ranks. Mind you, I’m not sure my temper could cope with the other bastards!

Since I recorded the record, I’ve signed a deal with Eromenos, performed at Wembley Arena, and am now off on a World tour next year. I guess this musician stuff ain’t all that bad after all.

Have a lovely weekend. I’m off to an opening party of Revolution de Cuba tonight. Don’t worry, it’s a bar. Me, Che, and Fidel aren’t planning anything.

‘What’s Love Without Meaning’ Single…

Oi!

Two posts in one day! I’m on a roll.

The second single off of ‘A Brand New Battle‘ will be ‘What’s Love Without Meaning?

The music video for the track, will be available in the next couple of weeks.

I’m off to Manchester on Sunday to record two B sides for the single. I think one of the b sides will be a chilled out, acoustic version of ‘Remember Who You Are‘, the other, will be a brand new track.

The brand new track will be exclusive to the CD.

The CD single plus two b sides, will be available on December 17th.

The digital single plus one b side, will be available December 21st.

Remember Who You Are, Remixed by Greenlab…

Hey folks,

I’ve just been sent a Drum and Bass, and Dubstep remix of Remember who you are.

Italian dance group, Greenlab have spent the last few weeks working on the tracks, and I must admit, they’re pretty cool.

Drum and bass isn’t normally my type of music, but they’ve done an awesome job. It seriously woke me up this morning. I found myself reaching out my bed, for a glowstick. I didn’t find one.

As soon as I have a release date on the tracks, I’ll let you know.

The idea of Remember who you are, blasting out in dance clubs across Italy, is pretty cool though.

National Libraries request ‘How NOT to be a Rockstar’…

Hey all,

I was strolling through Prague Airport, minding my own business, when I received a message from my big sister. The National Library of Great Britain has requested copies of my book, How NOT to be a Rockstar.

That’s a massive achievement for one, and one that was celebrated with a beer, and a soggy airport sandwich.

You can buy a copy of the book by clicking onto www.garethicke.com/book.

I’ll be selling copies at gigs aswell.

Talking of gigs, I’ll be playing an acoustic show at the Engineers Arms in Henlow, Bedfordshire on Friday. Free entry and awesome beer. Kicks off at 9pm.

Thank You Wembley!!!

Hey everyone!

What an amazing experience Saturday was. 6000 people at Wembley Arena, with a further 2000 watching live across the World.

To show how amazing it was, here is the view I walked out to…

There are plenty of Youtube videos of the performance circling around. I was amazed by the amount of people that recorded the gig, sang along, cheered, clapped, everything.

I can’t thank people enough for making my day.

I have a taste for it now. Let’s hope next years European tours help quench it somewhat!

There will be an official video and photos coming soon.

Until then, thanks again!!!

Photos from Album launch…

Hey folks,

Last night was my Isle of Wight album launch. Thanks so much for everyone that came out and made it a great night.

It felt awesome to be back on stage with the band again. It’s been far too long.

Here are a few images from Roger Regular.

Now on to Wembley! x

Album Launch Tomorrow (Wednesday) & Wembley Sells Out…

Hello folks,

My Isle of Wight album launch Tomorrow (Wednesday 24th) is my first full band performance for almost three and a half years. How crazy is that?

Since my last full band show, I’ve been touring solo across the UK and Europe, but there’s nothing quite like getting back in the studio with the lads, and making some noise.

Tomorrow we’re playing at the Wight Rock Bar in Ryde, Isle of Wight. Ryde was my home town for most of my life, so it’s only right that my first show, should be back in my old stomping ground.

The doors open at 8pm with support coming from This Way Up & Bradley Barney. Three bands for 3 quid. BARGAIN!

On Saturday, we’re off up to play Wembley Arena. The show is now sold out. 5500 people, with a further few thousand watching the live stream across the World. Epic.

Hopefully see you all on Wednesday, Saturday, or some show soon.

Peace. x
