Movember.

Hey all.

Just a quick message to tell you all about Movember.

Basically from the first of November until the 1st of December, you grow a moustache in aid of male cancer charities.

The whole point I suppose is to look like a bit of a prat. I have no problem with that so I’m happy to have a hairy top lip.

Today is day one and here is my progress…

By the end of the month, it will be pretty special I think.

If you want to get involved, or donate, get your arse over to my personal Movember page http://mobro.co/garethicke.

I’ll keep you updated with daily images to let you know how the growth is progressing!

Germany.

Hello all,

Today is my first day of treatment in Germany. I’m here because (thanks to the NHS) I have ulcers on both my eyes.

Basically I had red eyes one day due to hayfever, they put me on a steroid called FML and my eyes went white again. Happy days! The only down fall is that FML is allowed to be taken for a MAXIMUM of 6 weeks because of the damaging side effects that it can cause.

Now guess how long I was prescribed it for? EIGHTEEN MONTHS. So needless to say, my eyes are fucked.

I’ve been in Germany since Monday evening and I get my first treatment today, another tomorrow and then home on Friday. Lets hope it does the trick!

I’m down near the French border, about 100km south of Frankfurt. It’s beautiful round here. Another reason to keep my eyesight!

I’ve basically been told to relax and chill out before I get treatment. I’ve found two very different ways of doing that.

Yesterday we went to a special salt water swimming pool. It’s pretty cold here and the pool goes outside. But the water is 36 degrees. It’s amazing.

Check out the image below…

Now, that makes sense right? Relaxing in a pool? Perfect.

So then I drove 75 kilometres to a place called Bretten and picked up a 1967 BMW 2000CS. As you do…

The difference between the one above and the one I picked up were pretty significant. I carried the doors, bonnet and windscreens and loaded them into the truck. Then pushed the car to the trailer before winding to pulley and dragging the car on to it.

Like I said…relaxing.

Got back after midnight, ate a full on Moroccan chicken dish, climbed into bed, go the hump that the cover was itching, stole my girlfriends ‘onsey’ and got into bed. She’s a lot smaller than me…obviously… So I woke with the biggest wedgie you could possibly imagine!

It’s ok though, I saw an Elephant today (In the Zoo).

Hope you’re all well. x

G & Tippers Show Theme…

Yo!

This weeks theme is inspired by the ITV quiz show ‘The Chase’. It’s not inspired in any other way than the fact that it had me in tears of laughter yesterday afternoon.

The presenter Bradley Walsh had to ask a question about the German alpine skier ‘Fanny Chmelar’. Bradley couldn’t ask the question and was literally crying laughing.

Fanny appears to have caught a whiff of something…

It got me thinking of funny names there are around the World. Obviously they have to be real. Laura Norda is an Australian politician. Great name.

I often dealt with a customer a few years ago called Rose Bush. Amazing.

So get your Tweets and Emails in to us. We want to hear about yours. But remember, they have to be real! If I hear Scott Chegg, I’ll know you’re lying!

www.twitter.com/gandtippers for the tweets andgandtippers@vectisradio.com for the emails!

The show wouldn’t be complete without the appearance of Mike Gammon and Mostyn. This weeks quiz will pitch me up against Mr Gammon. There is a lot at steak with this meating of minds. We’ll chew the fat and try and tenderise each other. He can talk the talk, but can he pork the pork. That’s the question.

Also, we need a challenge. This week me and Tippers will be competing to see who can get the most clothing pegs on their face. There is no reason for this whatsoever. But to be honest, when has there ever been a reason for what we do? Exactly.

We’ll have plenty of great tunes and a few surprises thrown in for good measure.

Thursday night on www.vectisradio.com. 7pm til 10 British time. Tune in!

Song for Wembley.

Hey folks.

If you don’t already know, my Dad is speaking at Wembley Arena on October 27th next year. (Click here for tickets)

Well I have been entrusted with the job of writing and recording a song to support the event. It’s Wembley Arena and god knows how many thousand people. So no pressure like…

I am massively stoked though as it’s a hell of an honour and a huge achievement for me personally.

As a musician, playing at Wembley Arena is the equivalent of playing at Derby County’s Pride Park as a young footballer. Or maybe that was just me?

I’m back in the studio with the lads Tomorrow to lay down another track for the album. That’ll be track number 8 done and dusted and only 4 more tracks to go until the album is completed.

I know it’s been a while since my first record. I hope this one is worth the wait.

Hope you’re well. x

Time to stand up and not fight…

Hey people.

I hope everyone is well. Here is a great video I was sent this morning. It shows the staggering amount of people standing up and not fighting.

Violent protests are exactly what they want. Fighting for peace is an oxymoron if ever I heard one.

Just stop complying with a World elite that couldn’t give a shit about any of you. It’s time to say no. We will no longer be your cannon fodder. We will no longer put our lives on the line to fight for the agenda of the global elite.

No violence. Just non-compliance.

G and Tippers Theme!

Yo!

This Thursdays show is all about extremes. We want to know the mostly manly and the most girly thing you’ve ever done. That goes for both men and woman.

For instance, I get my Mrs to get rid of spiders and even crane flies as they terrify me. But on the other hand, I can down ten pints, eat a kebab and smash the Granny out of a punching machine. Grrr!

So we want as girly as this…

Or as manly as this…

Also, Tippers and I will attempt another two World Records, plus Pranks, Quiz, Gammon and Mostyn stories of the week, and tonnes more.

Tune in!!! x

As yet un-named…

Hello folks.

Am in the studio today. We’re laying down a completely new tune. It hasn’t even got a name yet. Any ideas?

The track is about the nightmare that is long distance relationships and the trauma that loneliness causes for an already tortured mind. Sounds upbeat eh? Truth is it is. It’s a 128 bpm tempo which is apparently the pop song formula. We’ll see!

This will be track number 8 of the album complete. We’re getting there and the record is really taking shape. I sincerely hope you feel as positive when you hear it, as I do now.

I am sorry I’ve been a bit crap with the old posts recently. I’ve been so busy with various things that I literally don’t have time.

But I will make time. Shit loads of news to come soon. TV pitches and book publications to name a couple.

Be safe all! x

G and Tippers Show Theme!

Hey!

Fresh from last weeks World Record equalling show, we’re back with more attempts!

I held 17 eggs in my left hand. That’s right! 17. Tim managed 8.

Our theme for this week is shit relationships. We’ve all had to date horrors before we found ‘the one’. We want your stories about just how mean and nasty those ex’s were.

Were they cheaters or beaters? Either way, we want to know! Tweet us@gandtippers and let us know!

A Brand New Battle.

OiOi.

Spent the day in the studio and am now 7 tracks into my album. I know it’s an odd day here and an odd day there. But I’m juggling work, radio show and football. And of course, it’s expensive!

We recorded ‘A Brand New Battle’ today. I reckon it’s earmarked as a single so it was nice to get it down and hear it sounding good. There is nothing worse than pinning your hopes on a song and then when you add the other instruments, it dies a slow, painful death.

I have a couple of shows this weekend. Check out the gigs page.

They’re only local but as soon as the album is done, I’m off on the road again. I hope Germany kept my bar stool warm.

Help?!

Hello my lovelies!

This might sound like a bizarre request, but does anyone that doesn’t drink actually enjoy Real Ale Festivals? Because if you do, and you live on the Isle of Wight, you could be the man/woman to save the day!

Me and Tim are playing at Rookley Real Ale Festival on Friday Night. Now there is one problem. As it’s a small event, with a tiny budget, we’re getting paid in beer.

Now in the 1960’s it wouldn’t have been a problem. We just get smashed and then drive home.

But…

Drink driving is for mugs.

If anyone fancies giving me and young Timothy a lift, we’ll forever be in your debt!

We’ll pay petrol, get you free entrance to the Festival and chuck you a couple of copies of the album.

Email me at garethicke@hotmail.com.
