We’re running the Derby 10k this weekend for the Derby Mission.

Members of the Ickonic Media team will be competing in the annual Derby 10K run on Sunday 10th April to raise money for the Derby City Mission, who provide a vital service across the City, from Poverty prevention, food banks, street pastors, crisis support and much more.

We’re delighted to be able to support such a vital cause in the City where our Media organisation is based.

Help me raise £1000 for Medina House

On September 22nd, me and my pal Steve, are running the Sheffield 10k. On a personal level, I simply want to complete the race, having only had groin surgery at the end of June. But more importantly, I want to raise money for a wonderful organisation called Media House.

My mother is law Amanda, has worked for most of her life helping children all across the special needs spectrum. I’ve been lucky enough to have spent a lot of time with some of these children as she also provides respite care, alongside her job at the Media House school.

Here is a bit about them…

“As well as all the usual facilities that you find in schools on the Island, Medina House has many specialist facilities, including a splash pool, sensory garden, outdoor classroom, speech and language therapy room, a room for medicals, spacious gym and separate dining hall, a white room and a dark room; specialist information technology equipment (ICT) , a hydrotherapy/swimming pool and a soft play room.We also have two mini-buses that are used throughout the school week to take children on a range of enrichment visits that support their learning”

Obviously all these facilities cost money, so any little pennies you may have, please pop them in the pot!

Big thanks to John Daly and the Awareness For Autism family, for letting me be part of their charity event.

Unfortunately my on the field performance ended after 6 minutes, when my groin tore while running on to a through ball from Alan Smith.

Still, it was lovely to be part of the event, and to perform some tunes at the after party.

Next year hopefully, if invited, I will have more of an impact on the field.

AFA Charity Event

I am performing at this years AFA Charity event in Nottingham.

I will be playing an acoustic set at Saltbox Nottingham in the evening, but more importantly, I will be putting my boots back on for the first time in years, as part of that afternoons charity football match.

If you are in the area, check it out and support the cause.

Lives & Lyrics Project

Ayup.

I have spent the last two Fridays in a young offenders institute just outside Derby. I am lucky enough to be involved in a musical project called ‘Lives and Lyrics’.

The idea of the project is to take stories from different areas of society, and put them into song. Other musicians are with different communities across the County. At the end of the project, we will release an album and tour the songs around the local area.

It has been an eye opening experience, and now I need to put pen to paper and do these kids justice.

I will post updates and samples as they come!

Football Shirt Donation…

Hi folks,

I am gathering up as many football shirts as I can, so I can post out to Gaza, and the West Bank.

There are several kids and teenagers in Palestine, that love football, but don’t have access to football shirts, and equipment.

One bonus of Football Clubs ripping off fans by changing their kits every year, it that we all have plenty of old shirts we rarely wear.

I am sending out a bag full of Derby County shirts, but would love to send out shirts from as many other clubs as possible. If it is sat in a drawer, unworn, it should be being enjoyed by someone else. That’s my think anyway.

Contact me on Twitter, or email me through the contact page and we will arrange to get the shirts sent out, Or you can send to me, and I will happily pick up the tab to send them out to Occupied Territories.

Our address is: Gaza Football Shirts, Suite 4, 185a High Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 2PN.

Thank you. 🙂
