Video gets 21,000 hits in 3 days & I get a new leg…

Hello,

I’m writing from my hospital bed. It’s been a weird couple of days in the life of moi.

First of all, a massive thank you to everyone that has checked out the video for ‘Remember who you are’. The track has now received over 21,000 views in it’s first three days online. That’s not bad going!

If you haven’t already checked out the video…here it is.

The track will be available for download from itunes, amazon, play.com etc in the next few weeks. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s up.

The rest or the album is currently being mixed and mastered and will also be available within the next month or so. The record, ‘A brand new battle’ features ‘Remember who you are’, as well as eleven more brand new tunes.

Again, I’ll keep you up to date with progress.

As I said earlier, I am writing from my hospital bed. So if there are any spelling mistakes, blame the copious amounts of morphine I have flowing through my system.

This is why I am here.

I’ve been pieced back together with 7 screws, a plate and a bone graph. That will teach me for playing football won’t it!?

I get out of hospital and it’s a long recovery of 6 weeks in a wheelchair, then 6 weeks using crutches. But what this extra time does mean, is plenty of booking gigs.

I’ll be booking up UK and European tours for July and August.

It’s all about being positive, and that’s not just the medication talking!

Peace. x

Charity Show This Friday & Music Video…

Hey everyone,

Hope you’re all well. This is the 4th day on the trot that I haven’t left the house. The reason for this?

Yep, that’ll keep you off your feet for a while!

I’m spending my days filling out ISRC codes for the new album (very boring) and watching reruns of Only fools and horses.

On Friday morning I go back into hospital where they make the final decision whether or not to operate. I’m hoping not for two reasons.

1. It’ll bloody hurt having my bone marrow drilled out and an titanium rod put down the middle of my Tibia.

2. I have a gig on Friday night.

Now normally I wouldn’t be so eager to be sat playing a guitar in a wheel chair while my heavily plastered leg is elevated, and exposed in a room full of drunk people. But this is for charity.

In May my big sister is climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, for alzheimers charities. I figure, if she can climb the highest mountain in Britain, I can play some songs while off my tits on a cocktail of Tramadol, and German lager.

The show is at The Wight Rock Bar in Ryde, Isle of Wight. Doors open at 8pm and entry is only £2. All the cash goes towards my sisters charity fund. So please be a good sport and come along!

I’ll (touch wood) be playing about 8:30 with Tim Pritchard. Then This Way Up and Bear Attack Club will be finishing off the evening.

3 bands for £2? Fucking bargain!

The music video for ‘Remember Who You Are’ is nearly completed. I have seen a sneak peak and it looks awesome. It should be ready by the end of next week.

I can’t wait to get it out there and let you all have a watch. I hope you’ll enjoy it!!!

Right, I have some whiskey. It’s a treat. xxx

Music Video, Charity Gig & Apparently, I’m Gay…

Hello all!

Hope you’re all good and stuff. It’s Valentines Day so I hope you got some nice gifts. Chocolates, flowers, condoms, whatever floats your boat. I didn’t get a card this year. But then why would I? According to this gentleman, I don’t even know my own sexuality.

Gareth Icke is gay.

This guy has dedicated an entire webpage, and VIDEO to the fact that I am gay. That’s some serious dedication I must admit. His proof is pretty overwhelming. Please check out the video for yourself.

His name is Chris Constantine and according to the BBC, he has ‘serious mental health issues’.

BBC News.

That was an interesting watch for me yesterday I must admit!

Anyway, back down to planet Earth.

I have completed the music video for ‘Remember who you are’. It’s now being put together and special affects added. I can’t wait for you to see it.

I won’t give too much away but in the space of 3 hours I blew out a girlfriend, got hit by a car, ran through a graveyard, and attended my own funeral. Just another normal day in North London.

As soon as it’s completed, the link will be spread far and wide. Much like my legs are as I’m enjoying another mans company.

Do you reckon Mr Constantine has a secret fantasy about me? Maybe.

On March the 9th I’m playing my last show on the Isle of Wight for quite some time. At the end of March I’m moving back up to Derby and won’t be around the South coast any more.

The show on the 9th is at The Wight Rock Bar in Ryde. It’s to raise money for my Sisters charity climb of Ben Nevis.

Bear Attack Club, This Way Up and myself will be performing. All for a mere £2. Doors open at 8pm. Get your arse there! 🙂

I shouldn’t really be talking about arses. I’ll give you all ideas.

Music Video.

Oi!

I am off up to the smokey metropolis we call London on the 9th of Feb, to start work on a music video for ‘Remember Who You Are’, The song was written to go alongside the release of my Dads book, of the same name.

The video will be shown on a massive screen behind me and my band when we play at Wembley Arena in October. Yes, you did read that correctly, Wembley Arena.

The idea for the video is wicked. It’s really thought provoking and interesting. I do hope you’ll like it!

I’ll get it up here as soon as I can. x

The Album Is Done!!!

Oi!

At last my second album is complete. It still needs mastering and mixing but as far as recording, our job is done.

Now I just need to sort out an album title and get it released and out into your eardrums.

The mixing and mastering shouldn’t take long at all so I’m looking for a release around the end of March.

One track off the album, ‘Remember Who You Are’ will be released well before that. I had a meeting in London on Friday to put together ideas for a music video to be released on YouTube by the end of February.

While the record won’t yet be for sale, it’s quite a cool way to advertise it’s release and get some interest around the internet. Well, that’s the plan anyway!

This is a self release and while that’s amazing because I get the record to sound how I want it to, it’s also down to me to sort everything else out.

Once it’s released, I’ll piece together a tour and hopefully come and play somewhere near you.

Until then, stay lucky. x

Album finished tomorrow…

Hey guys and gals,

I hope you had a lovely Christmas. Mine was blurry, but thems the rules in England.

I’m in the studio tomorrow to finish the album. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I really hope you like it!

Next year will be a good one. I can feel it.

Have a great New Years Eve. Be safe. Make love not war.

8 tracks done, 4 to go…

Hey folks,

I went into the studio today and blasted out the vocals on another 3 tunes. I have now completed 8 tracks and only have 4 more vocals to do before the album is complete.

I know it seems like it has taken ages but all together so far, it’s only taken 14 days. I have had to spread it out due to costs but to nearly have an album done in two weeks, is pretty impressive in my book.

The financial situation that musicians have to face is incredible. Did you know that my first album, It gets worse at night, was released on iTunes on December 7th 2009? That is nearly 2 years to the day, and I have still not seen ONE PENNY of the sales revenue that album generated. Pretty mad eh?

So for that reason, this album has taken longer due to the distinct lack of funds at my disposal. I guess that’s why so many acts these days come from privileged backgrounds and attended private schools. They need Daddies money just to fund their careers.

But, despite what you may have read about my family in the papers recently, I come from a normal working class background and therefore, funding an album takes it’s time.

They may have the funds, but at least I have the soul.

Basically, I just went round the houses to say, ‘Sorry it’s taken two years to come up with a second album’. I just hope you think it was worth the wait!

I was using the working title ‘The Non-Delivery Boy’ for the record. Based on the fact that I have promised much in several different areas and failed to deliver in each. Did you know I was once voted by Bob Wilson (Arsenal & Scotland) as ‘The most promising goalkeeper in Britain’? There’s a fact for you!

But despite not quite making it in football, Ice Hockey and music, I am very proud of what I have achieved. Representing your Country is certainly not something to feel bad about. So for that reason, I have scrapped the title. It’s too negative. I want this album to be a positive thing. A rebirth after a couple of pretty horrible years personally.

Now I’m thinking the title ‘The long road to the middle’ is more fitting. Some people have bumpier rides than others, but fundamentally, we’re all going to the same place. We’re all equal.

New Album, Alex Lloyd & Movember…

Hey folks,

I hope you are all splendidly well.

I have finished the tracks for my new album. On Monday, I start the vocals. Should be finished with them within the next 3 or 4 weeks. Then a quick mastering and it’s all finished.

I haven’t worked out a running order yet but the tracks I have laid down are…

Jenny, Satellites & Wires, Colours, Remember Who You Are, A Brand New Battle, What’s Love Without Meaning, Paint The Town Red, Beat Up, Growing Pains, Don’t Say It, Adrienne & Sleep With The Girl.

I don’t have an album title yet but I’ve been using the working title of ‘The Non-Delivery Boy’. It seems that in my late twenties I’ve realised that as a footballer, musician & ice hockey player, I promised much, but never quite delivered. So I guess the title is a tongue in cheek dig at myself.

I can’t wait for you to hear the record. It does sound great. Totally up another level from ‘It gets worse at night’. As long as I am getting better and not worse, I should be pleased right?

As soon as the record is done and released, I’ll be back out on tour across Europe and across the UK. I’ll keep you posted.

Tonight is Thursday night. That means one thing. The G & Tippers Show. On tonight’s festivities is the legend that is Alex Lloyd. Massive MASSIVE artist from Australia. He’ll be pitching his wits against yours truly in the G & Tippers quiz. I hope I won’t let my fellow English down!

Also, check out my Movember efforts. I think you’ll be quietly impressed.

Song for Wembley.

Hey folks.

If you don’t already know, my Dad is speaking at Wembley Arena on October 27th next year. (Click here for tickets)

Well I have been entrusted with the job of writing and recording a song to support the event. It’s Wembley Arena and god knows how many thousand people. So no pressure like…

I am massively stoked though as it’s a hell of an honour and a huge achievement for me personally.

As a musician, playing at Wembley Arena is the equivalent of playing at Derby County’s Pride Park as a young footballer. Or maybe that was just me?

I’m back in the studio with the lads Tomorrow to lay down another track for the album. That’ll be track number 8 done and dusted and only 4 more tracks to go until the album is completed.

I know it’s been a while since my first record. I hope this one is worth the wait.

Hope you’re well. x
